Hiwassee Refuge

Site Directions: On I-75, take exit number 25 in Cleveland, Tennessee. Travel north on Highway 60 through the town of Birchwood. Approximately 1.7 miles north of Birchwood, turn right on Shadden Road. Go one mile and turn right on Blythe Ferry Road. Take the next left on Priddy Lane and follow signs.

Seasonality: Refuge is closed from November 15 to the last day in February; however the Observation Platform is open year-round.

From Chattanooga
Head north on US-27 North for 36 miles toward Dayton.
Turn right onto TN-60 South and drive 9.5 miles.
The school will be on your left. Follow signs for parking.
Travel time: 50 minutes

From Knoxville
Head west on I-40 West towards Nashville for 3 miles.
Merge onto I-75 South towards Chattanooga and drive 53 miles.
Take Exit 49 for TN-30, head west towards Decatur and drive 10 miles.
Turn left onto TN-58 South and drive 18 miles.
Turn right TN-60 North and drive 5 miles.
The school will be on your right. Follow signs for parking.

The gazebo at the Hiwassee Refuge is open year-round but there will be no parking at the gazebo during the festival.
